Shin Splints
Shin splints are generally an irritation of the Tibialis Anterior or anterior shin muscle on the front of the leg. Usually the muscle itself is too tight which results in a very strong pulling, tearing or deep aching sensation felt in the shin region. It usually occurs when one walks too fast or runs. What is interesting about the shin muscles is that they broadly attach to the majority of the surface of the bone on your leg (Tibia) whereas most muscles only attach to just one small portion of the bone and thus do not pull as hard on the bone when put under tension.
